Auxiliary report

Report on the Fundraising Day at Collinsvale Fair Sunday 26 September 2004

First of all I must say thank you very much to all the relatives, staff and friends of Glenview who donated cakes, slices and other items for the cake stall. The response was fantastic. Thank you also to Jason for once again organising some lovely slices to be prepared in the Glenview Kitchen (thank you Sandra) and of course the Auxiliary ladies themselves provided more goodies as well. We had so much that even with the addition of two tables at the end of the trestle there still was not enough room for everything to be put out at the beginning and as things sold they were being replaced from the boxes.

The Ladies Auxiliary Kitchen was also very successful and the demand for soups, sandwiches, Devonshire Teas, etc. (all made by the Auxiliary and relatives) was constant throughout the day. We would like to thank Lipscombe Larder for the donation of bread rolls and Country Bake for the donation of bread for the sandwiches. It is a great help when businesses give their support like this.

I am therefore pleased to report that the Glenview Ladies Auxiliary raised a clear profit of $1050.00 (Cake Stall and raffle $518.00; Fair Kitchen $532.00). I am sure the money raised will go towards some very useful items for our Residents.

I am also pleased to report that our Mrs Jarvis from Glenview Close won the Decorated Emu Egg Raffle.

It was great to see relatives, staff and residents at the Fair and especially nice to have a relative, Jill Smith, with us on the cake stall. Special thanks to Colin (a husband) for the lovely flower arranging. The help provided by the Glenview Office in advertising the Fundraising and selling raffle tickets beforehand was also very much appreciated. We would also like to thank the Collinsvale Community Association for providing organisations like the Auxiliary with the opportunity to raise money.

All in all it was a very busy but enjoyable day. I was impressed with how well the Auxiliary worked together - I think they have done it many times before. At the moment there are 'plans' to do this again in February next year with perhaps fruit/berries and cream instead of soup as it will be warmer then. If you know of anyone who would like to donate some fruit/berries for this purpose the Auxiliary would be very interested to hear from you.
