Community Social Visiting Volunteer
• Looking for a meaningful volunteer position?
• Want to make a difference in someone’s day?
• Enjoy sharing another person’s life experiences?
Glenview assists elderly people in Hobart and district to remain living in their own home. They may become isolated and lonely if they don’t feel part of their local community, so we are seeking volunteers to offer regular social companionship.
Visit someone in their home and discover the rich rewards of spending time with our elderly population. You may have a hobby or talent that you could enjoy together….cooking, wood-working, flower arranging, reading or crosswords. You can make a huge difference to someone’s life by sharing time with them for just a couple of hours on any day of the week.
You could have a chat and a cup of tea, go out for a stroll or drive, have lunch at a café, go to a film or help in the garden.
OR
You could accompany a client to a group activity or club in the community or at Glenview.
OR
Bring along your own ideas!
The hours are flexible according to the arrangements you make with your client.
A good sense of humour, genuine respect and interest in people are essential.
Registration, training and ongoing support are provided. Opportunity for some reimbursement of personal costs is available.
