Day support

Banksia

Banksia day centre is situted in a lovely old home opposite Glenview in Windsor Street in Glenorchy. It offers a wide range of social and recreational support to the frail aged and have some form of disability, younger people with a physical disability. Transport for Banksia is provided by the Community Transport Scheme and clients pay a contribution towards the cost of transport and support.

Night Owls

Banksia Night Owls offers an evening out weekly. Clients choose a venue for weekly outings such as a meal, concert, BBQ or a trip to the races. Night Owls clients are picked up from their home at around 4.30pm and scorted home at about 10.00pm.

Banksia and Night Owls are funded through the Home and Community Care Program, which is committed to supporting aged care people and/or people with a disability, to remain living in their own home.

Bisdee House

Bisdee House is a new service to support carers and is located in the grounds of Glenview. It is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Saturday and guests are free to come for as long or short as time as they like, and as often as they like.

Anyone who is providing care to someone 65 or older can use the service.

  • You do not need to be caring full time
  • You do not need to be receiving a carer's pension or allowance
  • You do not have to have the pseron you are caring for assessed for any other services
  • You do not need to be referred by a doctor or any other health professional

Bisdee House Clubs – operate from about 10.00am – 2.00pm

  • Thursdays: Social Club (for everyone)
  • Fridays: Music & sing-a-longs (for everyone) and Men’s Shed (for men only!)
  • Saturdays: Out & About Club (for everyone)

Bisdee House Cottage Respite

Bisdee House offers a very different respite experience and welcomes overnight guests. Bisdee House is linked to Glenview’s main residential site with professional support at hand when required,

Bisdee House has well set up bedrooms all with ensuites. There are several living areas both large and small and a beautiful library complete with comfortable leather furniture and boasting a wide range of books, up to date magazines movies and music. All meals are of course provided but the kitchen areas enable guests and their visitors to make themselves at home with a cuppa or a bite to eat.

During the day guests can participate in the variety of activities and events hosted by Bisdee House.
