About Banksia and Night Owls

Banksia is a day centre for aged clients from Monday to Thursday and, on Fridays, for younger people with a physical disability. Banksia has a monthly newsletter that includes a calendar of events for the month. Day Centre clients play an important role in choosing the program of activities, outings and guest speakers for the following month. Some popular choices are lunch at Wrest Point, Country and Western Concerts, cooking Chow Mein, historical tours of Kempton and Battery Point, sewing classes, calligraphy and planning the Begonia display.

Night Owls is an evening service operating from 4pm - 10pm on Thursday nights. The Night Owls group are great travellers and spend many an evening out for dinner, taking in a show or celebrating being together.

Banksia and Night Owls operate from 13 Windsor Street Glenorchy.

How much does it cost?

Banksia is funded through the Home & Community Care Program, which is committed to supporting aged people and/or people with a disability, to remain living in their own home.

All clients at Banksia are required to pay a contribution towards meals, transport and some activities. There is also a $2.00 per day Day Centre fee, which is a requirement of HACC. This fee can be waived if a client is experiencing financial hardship. This is discussed at the initial assessment, or if a client's financial circumstances change. All fees are in line with the HACC Fees Policy.

  • Cost of two-course meals provided by Glenview $4.50
